Feature Request: Improve timer visibility #1407

Open erikwatson opened 3 years ago

erikwatson commented 3 years ago

Detailed Description

The "Time Left" countdown should become increasingly visible as the time remaining decreases, perhaps it should turn red or something during the last 5 seconds. It's quite easy to get caught off guard by the site auto-picking a card for us at the moment. I think this would help.

Changing colour to red on the last ~5-10s sounds reasonable. It could also start flashing/pulsing etc.

Maybe @mixmix has a good idea to make the overlay timer (the one that appears once you scroll down while drafting) look nicer in general.

The first thing that comes to mind would be to add a graphical representation of time, like a little pie graph getting smaller, then getting red as its about to run out

Eg this sort of thing but smaller

The one at the bottom of your pic looks nice!

Agree. Another idea is that some sites put a progress bar as a thin line colored line across the top of a site that shrinks as time runs out and gets red when small

It's known from e.g. GitHub or YouTube as increasing (growing) loading bar from left to right, true.

We would need it as decreasing (shrinking) time bar (probably also from left to right).

I like that, too. Great ideas mixmix!

Even a combination would work well (with a prettier "floating counter badge" of course): mix
