You wanted notification of impending upstream certificate expiration.
By the time you and Michael finished negotiating details of that feature request, the GUI had evolved to the point where it could send email (thereby conforming to Lett's Law, if not (yet) to Zawinksi's).

it seems to want to do something mail-wise on first page-load.

Currently the admin gets emailed whenever an error occurs in the GUI. We can certainly disable that behavior. Django just defaults to doing that out of the box.

See #823 in which Rob complained about the email generated by scripts. It may be that you are not forwarding root's email to your own mailbox, so the mail is sitting in spool.
The only email setting I see in rpki.conf is pubd_contact_info, which is not used by the gui.

so it is superuser's email addy? i set that too.
no mail for root in spool. it seems to be sending to the rpki user. she has lotso mail. will set forward.

Yes, the webapp crashes will go to root. You may not have encounted an internal server error since you reinstalled, so might not have seen it.

This is probably the output from the cron jobs that Rob mentioned. It should no longer be happening due to the fix I committed in response to #823

Closed with resolution fixed
Apparently, seems odd that someone doesn't ahve this, but...
it'd be nice to know that I need working exim/postfix/MTA on the CA host. Maybe just a docs update fixes this.
