Unique ID #43

I went in to edit all of my projectors that I had put in the system... I only have the make/model at the moment, I am still working on putting in the serial numbers. When I changed the "type of item" from other to projector it would not let me update the item because the serial and unique ID was already taken.... but it was blank. So, I tried to put in a fake serial number like "1" and it told me that the unique ID was blank. What do I do about this? I like that I can't put in the serial number twice.

Do you want the ability to enter an item without a serial/unique id? I can do that if you want that, I just preferred when I was doing inventory to be forced to entire that while I was creating them.

The other option is just to make your own unique and serial that is temporary: temp-projector-room-name-1

how about we keep serial numbers so that you must type something in, but not unique ID... because there are only a few items that have the unique id

I like this idea, if you have items from differing vendors you may potentially end up with serial numbers that are the same across different products
