is the reason for this.
specifically these lines:
// no hard keyboard? ALT-k should pass through to below
if ((orgMetaState & KeyEvent.META_ALT_ON) != 0 &&
(!hardKeyboard || hardKeyboardHidden)) {
key = 0;
}
Some symbols like !,&,$,% get sent as two key events by the soft-keyboard. the
first being a FN key, the second an actual keycode.
Removing this if() fixes the issue.
I don't understand why this is there anyway...
