I'm not sure what's happening with sessions right now. I think I may use them in one or two places.
But there should be some site-wide session strategy. This means every layout and action should be designed with awareness of sessions and possible session data.
If we get a user name or email in a form, even if the user is not logged in, that should be sessionized for use in other forms
Key interaction points should watch for sessions for logged in users. That way past products and site prefs could be used.
I've been thinking about this in reference to the need for email address in a few spots. Can you really stick an array in the session and have it available in all functions? More reading to do
