unable to add Ikea Tradfri dimmer switch or motion sensor #246

I'm trying to add an Ikea Tradfri dimmer switch (round, 5 buttons, E1810) and a motion sensor (E1525, with two twist knobs for daylight and time setting) in Phoscon and it repeatedly fails.

I'm using the Phoscon web app and use the 'add switch' / 'add sensor' dialog. I hold the device next to the Raspbee and press the link button four times. The device blinks red and stops blinking, but the Phoscon dialog never moves forward for either device. (I searched older issues and the only maybe matching one I could find was issue 81, which did not really come to a conclusion AFAICT.)

Raspbee II in a Raspberry Pi 3B (w/ bluetooth turned off) Version 2.05.88 / 15/10/2020 (also tried with 2.05.87, was the same) Firmware 26660700

I was able to add a Tradfri lamp to Phoscon, also a couple of Hue lamps and switches, so I assume the Raspbee is working. I was also able to add Tradfri dimmer and motion sensor to a Tradfri bridge, so I assume these devices are working too. All devices have up to date firmware.

Interestingly the two Tradfri devices do show up in the Deconz GUI, and in case of the motion sensor I can see that it seems to send data when I step into its range. But neither device shows up in Phoscon (or the REST API).

What can I do to help debug this? Happy to provide logs or do some experiments - just let me know :-)

After some more testing and trying it finally worked! \o/

These were the changes, not sure what exactly made the significant difference:

  1. I turned all other zigbee devices off.
  2. I had the deconz debug view open with everything but HTTP enabled, so there was a lot of noise and the raspi was quite busy.
  3. I held the Tradfri device in the other hand, maybe 80-100cm away from the raspi.
