sponsors display

so basically michaela coded this for a very specific case: that there will be three

elements, each taking up a third of the thing. whatever you put in the

s will take up a third of the space. so it works with the placeholder images we have.

note that i recommend your reply you just call them p elements because adding brackets and stuff is a pain...gotta write em like this \<p>

the question is how it should actually work from here on out... what do you guys think?

anyway, making it automagically programmable with some other, better display is not going to be dead simple either. you could jam two image links into the two side p's, that could work.

i guess my recommendation is to make the status quo work for now via experimentation more or less then grow from there.

what do you guys want from this section of the site?

My thought is to have the space at the bottom for presenting sponsors only (which will be limited to three), and then we'll have a link at the top for the page that will identify all of the sponsors.  Let me check with Stephanie to make sure that's okay with what she's been pitching though.

I guess we can work it a couple of ways:

1. As-is: we create a separate entry for each sponsor, which stack on top of one another at the bottom of the page (which should be fine, because it's at the bottom). Each sponsor block would have their logo to the left, and text with links to the right. In this scenario, there's no separate Sponsor page
2. Sponsor block at the bottom is just a block image with each of the Sponsor logos in it which, when clicked, goes to a Sponsor page that has links to individual sponsor pages.

I think option #1 is better for both us and sponsors: their name, logo, and links are all right there on the homepage; it isn't labor intensive for us; and it doesn't interrupt the site flow.

That might work well, too. Though if we end up just stacking the sponsors, the Presenting Sponsors would be at the top, and identified as such.

I'm fine with that too.  Stephanie is content to have the presenting sponsors only on the front page, but I'm sure more placement is better than less, and nobody's really scrolling down there so it's not really going to be a problem with real estate, I don't think.
