sometimes there are only two quick beeps (2, 1) then the shutter #47

I'll try to track down when this was happening...it was consistent for a while and now it's only sporadic.

It seems to be associated with times when I went away to do something else, or stayed on the screen but there was a delay, and then went to take a photo...

...just the first time. If I then go to take more photos without delay, it seems to return to the normal three-beep pace (which you have beautifully timed, by the way).

Huh, okay. I'll see what I can do. This might be a firefoxy thing, and might have to do with sound playback getting messed up. It's a little wonky.

I'm not quite seeing this issue, but i see a closely related one where it goes 3 ... 2 ... 1 properly, but then there's a longer than one second gap before it shoots the picture. FF only. Zero luck tracking it down. Going to move this out of 1.0 because it's not critical.
