check cookie behavior; seems to lose sessions on restart

Ugh, this is because I'm an idiot. Of course session cookies expire then. Need to figure out if it's possible to make use of the session store system and force it not to expire the cookies on browser quits. Otherwise, have to roll my own system for this(?) which seems a little silly.
