Feature Suggestions #5

Few bugs aside, Gearsystem is pretty solid and smooth but it can also be so much better. Here are a couple of suggestions I compiled from other users that they wish to see in any potential future update.

  1. In-app browser
  2. Improved portrait controls
    • Some people report that the controls are a tad small for iPhones. The responsiveness of the dpad and buttons is also a little off and shaky.
  3. Landscape controls
    • The first thing I did when I launched a game was put it sideways. Was disappointed there wasn't a landscape option - maybe in a future update!
  4. Edge swiping option
    • I personally love edge swiping in all the apps I use, however in Gearsystem, the functionality is very close to where we use the dpad controls which sometimes causes me to swipe the whole screen.
  5. AB button support
    • For games like Double Dragon
  6. Re-name ROMs
    • When getting a game with a very long name, the font gets smaller making the whole selection look a little bit off. If the font size for long games can't be adjusted, I guess re-naming ROMs would help!

Can you elaborate on the 5th one? I don't get it.

The AB button support is the ability to use A button and B button simultaneously but as a third button separate from the normal two.

You can currently press between both buttons and it just work. Isn't that what you're asking for? I don't see the point of a third button, it will be the same as pressing in between the two.

1: This won't happen. This emulator is focused on the emulation side of things. I can't endorse rom downloading or copying. I'm not interested in providing new methods to facilitate this task.

2: I changed the input zones a bit to improve responsiveness. Anyway, touch controls will never be the same as a real pad.

3: I'm opening a new issue just for the landscape controls.

4: Controls can't be raised any more, they're just below the screen for every device. Landscape controls may help with this.

5: This feature is already implemented. Just press between the two buttons.

6: This is just a matter of preference. I prefer maintaining the whole file name instead of trimming it off.
