New multi-architecture build setup.

looks good by eye, is the triggered build from the passed checks the old one?

Tests are currently failing because of something that's fixed in the other PR (#69). I propose that if everything appears to be okay, that we merge the two PRs and then check on the develop branch that the combination is working, and fix anything necessary at that time.
