Downloading Komodo Edit #7

Hello -

komodo quitting

I'm trying to open Komodo Edit on my MacBook Air in preparation for Programming Historian Live - it downloads successfully into Applications, but when I try to open it, it immediately quits, and I get the attached notice, saying that it's quit, and asking to Reopen. If I try again, the same thing happens. It opens fine on my Mac desktop, so I am not sure what I am doing wrong here - any suggestions please?

Hi @AnnaGroundwater. Hmm, I don't use a Mac. @mhbeals: do you and if so, any suggestions?

Anna - to add, should we not get this solved in advance we have some time before the sessions start in earnest to try and resolve some of these issues in person!

I am afraid I have never used Komodo Edit on an MacBook Air (only a much earlier model). It may be that you could use Atom, which also allows REGEX replacements as well

My best wishes MHB

I know a few people have had memory problems with Komodo. I find it freezes with very complex regex. I don't use it anymore myself! A colleague recommends Sublime Text, which he uses on Mac. It has lots of nice features, like multiple select, multiple cursors etc. I've had a quick look at Atom and it looks very handy too. I would try a few out and see which one you like.

Dear all

Komodo Edit does indeed have several memory leak issues, particularly with very long XML files. I would definitely recommend ATOM and am happy to offer troubleshooting advice! It is highly customizable, but runs on JAVA, so make sure you aren’t running several other JAVA-based programmes at the same time to prevent slow-down.

My best wishes MHB
