I get this issue as well, but it also shows other symptoms, which is why I feel
it necessary to comment (I'd make a new issue topic, but I'm not sure if this
person tried what I have after setting a background image).

Along with not seeing the background image, anything else placed onscreen in
the program will not vanish - for example, if I hit F1 for the help screen,
then hit F1 again, it doesn't vanish, instead just falling "behind" the text.
Same for the Scratchpad, MusicRoom feature, and anything else, it seems
(including the cursor).

Attached is a screenshot with a background image set, with the various elements
stuck onscreen (they DO clear, if I clear the background image, however).

To reproduce the issues I have, follow the original post's steps, then in
addition, press the key for any of these panels twice (once to open it, the
second time to 'close' it) while text fills the screen.
Or move text, or move the cursor, or any action that changes what's rendered
simply draws on top of what was already there, rather than moving/removing what
should no longer be there.

Almost forgot - I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate, and a new/fresh installation of
TextRoom 0.8.1 portable (the only version available for download for Windows)
