I am a Yosemite Mac User #62

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. after and before allowing to "open from anywhere"
2. window pops up when opening the app saying I need to install Java 6 runtime 
etc
3. before I install java 6, Java 8 is recommended by apple discussion forums, 
for Yosemite users, see this thread

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I cannot open the app, and would like your advice before installing an older 
version of something on my computer

What version of Crop Planning Software are you using and on what operating 
system?
crop planning 0.6.1 Mac Yosemite

this app looks great and I am really looking forward to trying it.
I downloaded the app before changing the setting "to allow to open from 
anywhere.... "

Java 6 is just the minimum version required.  Java 8 should be fine to install 
and use.
