Program invisible on Ubuntu #63

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Downloaded zip archive
2. launched jar - program started with the intro wizard.
3. Completed the setup wizard and clicked finish - Java icon appeared on the 
launchbar to indicate that the program is running but there's no visible window 
to interact with.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Program window with UI

What version of Crop Planning Software are you using and on what operating 
system?
Latest download on Ubuntu 14.04 with Oracle Java 1.7
