Hey. I am unsure of what SGS4 is. A quick Google seems to imply it's a Samsung Galaxy S4 device, but I'm not sure. Would you be able to provide the device's model number? I think this can be found in the device settings's about page. I actually have an old Samsung Galaxy S4 myself, though it is inoperable due to some issues that would probably take too long for me to explain, and I haven't used that thing in probably three years lol. So reproducibility is limited.
Make sure you've installed the latest version, and go into Scoop's settings and scroll down to the "Miscellaneous" grouping. There's a setting that shows you the current status of the READ_LOGS permission, and it will say either "granted" or "denied." If it says denied, it's possible you typed the command incorrectly, or something went wrong with the ADB.
@TacoTheDank - Yes, it's Samsung Galaxy S4 i9505. What's wrong with your S4, I might be able to help, cuz I'm pretty tech savvy (mostly software but also hardware).
At the time of writing this it was\is the latest 2.3.1 version and Yes, the permission is definitely properly granted\allowed and the app shows it ! If the command that I Copy>Pasted was wrong, I would've seen that in the command line\terminal. ...and - Yes, I know that A.5 LP is problematic ;)
@drogga Both batteries (the original and a replacement) had suddenly started to become bloated while in use by the phone. This phone was my mom's for a super long time before I inherited it to replace an even worse phone I had (which was my first). She must have got it when it first came out (I don't remember though, I was like 11 or 12) and used it for probably a solid 4 to 5 years before I eventually got handed-me-down when she got a new phone. Anyway, I figure the phone's age just finally caught up with it and started causing problems with its batteries.
Basically, I literally don't have a battery with which to operate the phone lol. At least that I remember, I'll have to check.
I might look into getting a new battery to try and debug this issue, since it's certainly strange.
Also, mine was a Samsung Galaxy S4 i9500, if I recall correctly.
@TacoTheDank i9500 is just a different variation with diff. CPU and no 4G\LTE (one of many), that's it, it shouldn't matter. ...maybe you can try with 5.x Emulator\VM, if Scoop runs there at all...
@TacoTheDank other similar apps that can also capture logs in non-root mode by allowing the same READ_LOGS permission like Logcat Extreme Pro work without any issue, so IDK what's wrong with Scoop...
@TacoTheDank - Did you read those, can you please add a reactions on a comment when you read it ? Thanks.
It would be easier to keep track of this issue if it were in the Scoop repository :) but yes I'll try to get to this when I can.
@TacoTheDank I installed your Scoop fork in VMOS Pro - 9 Pie Rom with Root and BusyBox, the Superuser app is with package name "com.koushikdutta.superuser" v.1.0 Build 1 and it seems modded, because the certificate/signature details info are in Chinese and don't seems to mach with the newer ver. of this app, that I could find online (same ID/P.N.) and I've granted the root access request when it asked, right when I started Scoop, but in the settings, Scoop still didn't believe that the Read Logs permission was granted, so I had to do that manually with/in a terminal, so please try to fix this if possible, also there's still no dark theme switch in the Scoop's settings...
TIA.
@TacoTheDank - I just want to let you know that your Scoop app\fork doesn't work on SGS4 with 5.0.1, Stock, No Root. I DLed it from your repo and allowed the Read Logs permission via ADB, before I even first launch the app, then I crashed and installed a few, but the Scoop app is empty, no logs at all. I also tried the original {xyz.paphonb.scoop} - the same thing !
It would be nice {for those that it actually works} if you can add a dark theme with a toggle\switch, it's basically a must for such app, that you have to stare at sometimes for a long time at the logs.
The reason of why I'm contacting you like that is because I'm embarrassed of the device I'm using and I don't want anyone else to know it, and you didn't provide any E-Mail address for contact, so simply texting tacothedank@gmail.com is a long stretch\shot.
Here, I have a full control over the issue, which I don't in other's repos, like for example to delete a issue created by me, no matter in which repo, GitHub (MS) need to get their sh1t together.
