Ask for feedback, it does not look really nice. I would suggest to go back to the previous, simple design.
On the twitter and blog blocks - I was thinking they could be on the right hand side starting below the main large image.
Pending on CSS ...
Creating custom blocks for all those contents from the homepage because of the new requirements. Changes to be done in the blocks, not on appearance

I have started playing with this. The blocks are now between the "welcome" and the "about CECAN". I still need to change the CSS for this, so they are properly aligned. However, before doing this, I have also enabled other homepage areas which were disabled, so you can evaluate whether it makes more sense to actually place Twitter in a different area "Researching" or "What we do". The text is just dummy one, and it will disappear. It is just a proof of concept. As an example, I placed it under "Researching". Please, let me know your thoughts on this. I can place it between the welcome and the about, but to be honest, it seems quite strange to me. I would suggest actually to use only the twitter one, and in a different area after the about (which is commonly to expect more attention than the twitter timeline).
Please, let me know your thoughts on this!
On blocks, I meant have it below the welcome image, but to the right of the about cecan text (with the text pushed left a bit). If this is not possible, in one of its own sections - as in ‘researching' - looks good. Of course, as ever trial and error is key!
OK, I see. I will implement this then. But we should definitely get rid of the blog post in this case, since otherwise it will definitely look strange. I will give it a go, and send you for your approval.
