Choose a twitter scheduling service #92

We need to be able to schedule tweets for the DDI twitter. Ideally, something free, with team access, so we don't have to share a login would be nice, though many just auth with the twitter account. Let's evaluate a few and decide on one. Some options: Hootsuite Twittimer Twuffer Buffer Social oomph

Honestly, any of those works for me. I've never used a tweet scheduler before :) Tagging @rubyji for her opinion.

I'm lazy and I just use Tweetdeck these days. I've used Hootsuite with teams in the past, but none of the other tools.

If a lot of people use Tweetdeck I think it could work for our team tool. It has scheduling and you can manage team members. It's pretty minimal, but we don't have complex needs and I'd rather not add yet another thing if what we have already works. That said, I'm open to hearing the arguments for using something else.

I've used Tweetdeck and Hootsuite a lot; Buffer a little. If we're only thinking about Twitter, I'd vote for Tweetdeck too. The cross-platform options in Hootsuite and Buffer would probably clutter the author experience (especially Hootsuite).

sugaroverflow commented 7 years ago

Thank you both for weighing in! I will put up a vote during our team meeting.

sugaroverflow commented 7 years ago

Moving this to review. I'd like us to complete this by the end of this week :)

3 votes for Tweetdeck from our content meeting. Does anyone have any reason for us not to use Tweetdeck?

AlannaBurke commented 7 years ago

So, I like tweetdeck, but my concern is that it won't let us see what other folks have scheduled, or at what time, etc. I'd much rather use some kind of service where we can see what is scheduled and when.

rubyji commented 7 years ago

Tweetdeck does you what's scheduled, but maybe it's only what you have scheduled. Should we test it? Or do you know that this is how it works? (If so, I didn't realize.)

@rubyji I'm almost 100% sure it's only what you have scheduled, unless you've ever seen my scheduled tweets - i've never seen anyone else's and i always have that column open.

sugaroverflow commented 7 years ago

Hearing what you're saying about scheduling - I'd switch to hootsuite if it can do this.

rubyji commented 7 years ago

I scheduled a tweet for 3:45pm ET today in Tweetdeck. Can anyone else see it?

sugaroverflow commented 7 years ago

Confirming that I can see @rubyji 's scheduled tweet in Tweet Deck. I added a column for "Scheduled" and it was there.

AlannaBurke commented 7 years ago

I can see it, too - nice! I had never seen them before. I'm happy with tweetdeck, then!

sugaroverflow commented 7 years ago

Awesome! Then it's decided, we're moving forward with TweetDeck to schedule and manage our twitter as a team.

Thank you both @AlannaBurke and @rubyji for your efforts on this! And @bradleyfields and @seantwalsh3 for recommendations!
