Checkboxes are not populated when editing, and are buggy

Steps to reproduce:

• edit a route
• check some checkboxes
• save
• edit that route again
• observe checkboxes

Not only do the checkboxes not save, but if you edit and leave some checkboxes empty, those get saved in FB as empty strings instead of boolean types, which is a serious unexpected behavior
