Hello! I am currently using an Apple 2 emulator named AppleWin and it is at version 1.24.0. The disk boots properly. And as it happens the emulator does find my Pi which is running your program via a2pid --daemon /dev/ttyUSB0 as its methods.

But the screen on the emulator never progresses past the screen which indicates a connection and what drives are where.
