gpx files could not be loaded in JOSM

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. log a trace
2. convert it to gpx
3. try to open it in JOSM

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

JOSM should have successfully loaded a trace but instead you get a message:
"Error while parsing LOGNAME.gpx: Element type "gpx" must be followed by
either attribute specifications, ">" or />"."

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
The omgps package I'm using is omgps_0.1_armv4t-20090527-1.ipk, JOSM
version 1607 on a free operating system with the Linux kernel ang GNU tools.

It seems to be an error parsing XML.
