What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. some .srt files don’t work

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
no subtitle, when i try to drag it to video it says “cannot open file"

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
latest

Please provide any additional information below.
it works with VLC, but not with movist

I think it's an encoding issue. I too sometimes have a subtitle that won't open 
in Movist. I fix this by opening the subtitle in TextEdit and save it (no 
changes required). Then Movist recognizes it.

I just had this issue and fixed it.

The .srt file was saved as UTF-8 and I re-saved it as Windows (1252) encoding, 
after that Movist had no problem.

That might cause some issues with special characters I guess but it's better 
than nothing.
