Compatibility testing? #53

Open mogren opened 2 years ago

mogren commented 2 years ago

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.

I'm wondering if there is any collaboration with the IPNSIG Pilot Projects Working Group - PWG around compatibility testing with other implementations of BPv7?

Describe the solution you'd like

I'd like to know if someone has filled out the form already, and if not, could dtn7-go be added?

Additional context

I would just like to test using dtn7-go to talk to other implementations.

This is the first time I have heard about this, but it might be worth doing.

Is it just me, or is the "DTN Applications List" on that page completely empty?

Folks;

I can help on this if you tell me what are you looking for. I’m at the board of IPNSIG. We currently have tested ION and uD3TN only, and would love to work with anyone interested to join the network.

Regards; Alberto

Can you give some more info on the methodology of how implementations are tested?

The form reads like it is mainly about actual applications using DTNs not the daemons themselves.

FYI: I'm the core developer and maintainer of dtn7-rs

PS: we also have an awesome list for DTN stuff which might be related in the context of the project: https://github.com/dtn7/awesome-dtn

Thanks. First the caveats: Please note this is not an "official" and full BPv7 interoperability testing at this point but basic addressing and connectivity tests.

The process is to setup a project within the Pilot Projects Working group, stating the goals, e.g. adding a DTN7 node to IPNSIG network (currently composed on ION and D3TN nodes), or testing ION/D3TN with DTN7. Then volunteers will jump into it.

The test is limited to:

I can connect you with Oscar Garcia, leader of PWG if you are interested.

Ah, I see.

I'll look into ION and uD3TN - maybe build a small setup to test for any obvious incompatibilites, and once I get the m to play nicely (or run into any roadblocks) I'll get back to you.

I joined the IPNSIG pilot projects meeting today with @amontill and others.

Is Regions something we should add to dtn7-go? It was recently added to ION.
