Unable to install on OSX 10.9 (Mavericks) with XCode Command Line Tools installed

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Install Xcode Command Line Tools
2. Install node-gyp under OSX 10.9 (Mavericks)

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

Expected - Gyp and node-gyp would install successfully.

However, instead we get:

We've raised an issue with the node-gyp:

However, the maintainer there said that this was an upstream issue with gyp,
