Only if it is optional. This kind of function would wreck any genre rooms and be open to abuse.
I like this idea I will bring this up with the owner
@Skavau Optional how? Wreck genre rooms how? I'm not trying to be obtuse, I just can't think of any cases where it would be negative. I guess to prevent any coups you could give mods the ability to lock/disable Skip per song. But they can just boot any offenders.
I think this is a bad idea. Anyone that down votes inherently want the next song to play.
Instead, there could be a setting to automatically skip after n
downvotes.
@andrewtibbetts a case would be the room where I am mostly on. It is owned by a TwitchTV streamer and he doesn't want songs skipped without his permission while he is streaming..
Well for that room auto skipping would never be done because people could mulit account and such to force skips when they would not happen. For smaller rooms or private rooms it would likely be a nice thing to have. It would have to be an optional for rooms.
I think it is superfluous and would clutter the UI. Downvotes should be used as "skipvotes"
If people like a song, they upvote. If they don't want to hear this song, they downvote. If they don't care, they don't vote. Once a majority has been reached with downvotes, many rooms automatically skip (or a staff member skips).
@andrewtibbetts Have it as an option for room administrators to toggle. Toggle Automatic Skip on Downvotes Yes/No.
It would seriously hurt songs from niche and esoteric genres in any genre rooms because people will instinctively downvote Death Metal or Drone if they're not familiar with it and it would create a climate where songs from unknown or lesser-listened to styles are isolated. It would inherently contradict the idea of any Any Genre Room.
i don't even know why you would insist on it being mandatory. Some room owners simply would not want it.
@andrewtibbetts Some rooms also use downvotes as feedback, not "skip this song plz" and if you force downvotes to function that way it distorts their use.
Situation example: a song can be played too much in a room. A new voting option to the right of downvote and upvote—skipvote—with a right pointing arrow and count. Don't want to downvote because the song is still liked and it fits the room genre. Once a majority has been reached, the song skips.
