Not it's possible to write

:duct.middleware.web/format {:default-format "application/transit+json"}

I wonder if it's worth using meta-merge here. Let me think about that.

Also, can you change your commit message to match the other commits in the repository? And can you mention the middleware you're changing? So something more like:
