Generally, AI is the field, then ML, NN, and DL are subsets of AI. NN acts as the backbone or base of DL algorithms. The “deep” in deep learning refers to the depth of layers in a neural network. A neural network of more than three layers, including the inputs and the output, can be considered a deep-learning algorithm.

There are some sources that perceived DL as subset of NN and vice versa, but most of them lists DL as subset of NN. This may be caused by the meaning of DL or consideration of DL algorithm written above. Here are some other diagrams that describes the connection between AI, ML, NN, and DL.
