There is a feature request to save automatically when clicking outside the QAT, not just on the Save button.
I really want them to take effect right away without having to click the “save” button afterwards. Ideally, that grid would pop up when the item is right clicked, and allow changes to be made right there which would adjust the time when clicking anywhere other than on the dialog popup.
Re: the right-click suggestion, I don't think we should replace the context menu with QAT. Double-clicking is already an option to bring up the QAT, and right-clicking allows user to reach functions that QAT does not offer.
Re: the save when clicking outside the QAT, I realised that we treat that as a Cancel without prompt for unsaved changes for now.
If the user activates the suppression button, we'll save what the user wants to do when clicking outside the QAT with unsaved changes. This should be resettable in Due > Preferences > Reset Confirmation Prompts.

My suggestion is to prompt whether to save / discard changes when clicking outside QAT with unsaved changes, with a suppression button that would default to 'Do not ask again' in macOS 11 or later.
