Munki 2 - Add 'Check again' button when a user has available updates #281

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
Currently in the Updates tab, there is a button that says "Check again". Once a
managed_install update has appeared, or a user has selected an
optional_install, this button turns into "Update".

It may be beneficial to have both buttons, allowing the user to recheck for
additional items. Currently, you would need to invoke msu via terminal to
recheck, thereby requiring root.

Is this likely to be something a normal user would ever do?

No, but they may be asked to do this by support staff.

Would managedsoftwareupdate --auto check again if MSC.app is already open and
refresh the list? If not, then we need the button.

"Would managedsoftwareupdate --auto check again if MSC.app is already open and
refresh the list?"

Yes. Any run of managedsoftwareupdate would update the GUI. Try it yourself.

After trying it, I still think it would be helpful to have the "check again"
button separated.

Should I take this to munki-dev for feedback?
