Munki2 Opens but stays blank #307

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Open application and check log and the log states that Managed Software is
checking for updates and finishes the update run. The GUI app however says
"Checking for additional changes."
2. After closing and reopening it, Managed Software Center remains blank and
does not check for updates. Log does not show a check for updates.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Unfortunately I don't see anything as Managed Software Update remains blank.

What version of the Munki tools/InstallOSpkg tools are you using? On what
version of OS X?
2.0.0.1965

There's really not enough information here to begin to attempt to reproduce the
issue. Until/unless more info becomes available, either from the original issue
reporter, or other people, this is likely to remain in the "New" state.

vReceived this today when attempting to run Managed Software Center. I received the error "Update Check Failed" with the accompanying message: There is a configuration problem with the managed software installer. The process ended unexpectedly. Contact your System Administrator.

However when checking the ManagedSoftwareUpdate.log the actual check for
updates completed without issue. After examining the system.log I saw the
errors attached.

I am going to attempt to downgrade to Munki 1 and attempt to reupgrade to the
newest build on Munkibuilds.org. I will let you know the results.

Performed Reinstall of Munki 1, Ran Managed Software Update which worked fine
and then reinstalled the latest build of Munki 2. Continued to receive errors
and cleared the cache in the user folder which also did not solve the problem.
Please let me know if you need additional information.

Could you please take a look at the generated HTML files in
~/Library/Caches/com.googlecode.munki.ManagedSoftwareCenter/html ?

If you cannot make sense of them, please attach them to this issue.

There are no generated html files. The only items in the folder are symbolic
links to icons and static. Even checked for hidden files. Are there files
from the static folder you may need?

OK, then the HTML parser is choking on a description for one of the items in
InstallInfo.plist. Can you attach /Library/Managed Installs/InstallInfo.plist?

Here is the /Library/Managed Installs/InstallInfo.plist

Issue is triggered by invalid HTML in the description for Evernote. MSC.app
will no longer raise an unhandled exception for that situation.

Next up (which I may leave as an exercise for the issue originator) -- figuring
out exactly what the HTML parser doesn't like.

Thanks for finding this. I will check through the Evernote description and
figure out what is wrong. :)
