Feature Request—Release digital audio on pause #206

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Play any file with a Dolby Digital sound track
2. Pause playback of the file
3. Switch to any other program that can output digital audio and play a file
with digital sound

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I expect that Movist would release the digital audio output path (S/PDIF on all
Macs + HDMI on new Mac Mini) so that another app may use it. Instead, other
apps simply default to using the built-in speaker.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Movist version 0.6.8, Mac OS 10.6.4

Please provide any additional information below.

DVD Player does this—pausing the DVD allows other apps, like Movist, to
output digital audio over the same path.
