put this under too complicated for now, but I wanted to write down a brain burp. It might be useful at some point to be able to control the satellite profile ellipticity as a function of radius, e.g. satellite distribution may be even more flat in the inner regions.
I'd bet z-space distortions will make profile-dependent ellipticity really hard to detect observationally, given how difficult it is to get good constraints on satellite concentration.
measure the triviality of sub haloes in Bolshoi and compare to the host halo triaxiality. Do we need to allow for the satellite distribution to be more or less triaxial than its host halo? Would a simple multiplicative factor for the axis ratio of the host halo account for this?
