Horizons of focus #11

Continuing to borrow from Getting Things Done, add a horizons of focus functionality of some sort. OttaDo currently focuses on the "what" and can help a user do what they already know they want to do, but additional help could come from defining the "why" of the actions they're doing.

More ideation is required.

What I'm noticing in my use is that priority is too arbitrary. In knowing how OttaDo sorts tasks, I can't always objectively set priority, and it's too easy to simply define actions for the sake of eliminating concerns without having a proper understanding of the underlying goal or principle guiding that concern, treating the symptom and not the cause.

Currently thinking of encouraging users to set goals, which would be specially marked projects. Users should always have at least one active goal.

This ties back to an idea I have for a more broadly-featured home dashboard to review things such as one's goals, urgent items, and delegated tasks (I.e. Did so-and-so get back to you?) Otherwise the current Next Actions view is still based on an older concept for OttaDo being more focused on whimsical productivity.

I'm thinking of also having users specify overarching goals or principles that don't necessarily tie to a project, and users would be encouraged/required (configurable? Want to limit friction while also purposely encouraging good habits for those who want it. You can lead a horse to water and all that) to specify what ultimate overarching principle/goal a task ties back to (if it's not already part of a project), which can help determine priority instead of arbitrarily deciding one. At least some of these would need to be set on first joining.

I could still have a view for whimsically picking up low priority tasks for relaxation purposes. For example, instead of just doom scrolling an app, you can pick from a list of activities you've wanted to try.
