Tested on either of themes alone(without any particular setting), will stop showing the LaTeX formatted formula with tags.
Check this one for example:
$$z = \frac{x - \mu} {\sigma} \tag{1} $$
After you put such formula on a Markdown cell and selecting the cell(not entering to edit the cell) the formula simply vanishes.
