I think this would be great. I'm looking for a means of having a shared collection of journal articles for my surgical co-residents (trainees). Zotero doesn't have a great way of easily reviewing notes (where I think Notion fills in the void). Just need to let others add journal articles, which can't be done through Zotero without the Group Libraries.
@dvanoni I would also love to see this feature added. I actually just bought some extra storage on Zotero so my team can store and share papers on Zotero while adding their own (textual and graphical) comments on the mirror database in Notion.
Sadly, the actual version of Notero does not consider group library as syncable ones. How tricky would it be to make the adjustment in the code ?
Beside this limitation, I'm really in love with this Zotero plugin. Thanks a lot !
I've just installed 0.4.0 and it could sync group libraries out of the box. It's not mentioned in the changelog though
Only downside is that they appear under the same tree as your local collections. You can even have name clashes if your local and remote collections share the same name! Only workaround I've found so far was to prefix each top level collection in the group's library with a tag making it easy to identify the collection as being part of the group's.
@jopasserat, thanks for pointing this out! It's strange because I didn't add anything related to this in version 0.4.0, so I'm not sure why the behavior would be different. I just reinstalled v0.3.5 to compare, and it looks like it also supports syncing collections in group libraries. 🤷 My best guess is that something changed in a recent version of Zotero itself that's now making group collections show up.
I hadn't actually tested with a group library until now. Just to confirm with y'all that have been trying this previously, did collections in group libraries not show up at all in the Notero preferences?
@dvanoni It didn't show up previously, but same for me, it works now! Very convenient. Only that I now need to transfer my Notero configuration from an individual collection to the group library. And I'm keeping my fingers crossed for multiple collection parallel sync eventually. It would be even more useful now that I could sync my group library with my co-authors and, if multiple collection sync arrives, my own private library separately. Regardless, thanks for a very nice and useful plugin!
Unfortunately neither v0.4.13, v0.4.0 nor 0.3.5 showed group libraries for me. I'm using Zotero 6.0.30 on Windows 11.
Support for group libraries would be hugely appreciated!
I am using Notero v0.5.14 on Mac with Zotero 6.0.30 and unfortunately cannot see Group Libraries. EDIT: I can see specific folders within the group library, but not the library as a whole. Also no way of knowing which library the folder is coming from, just shows the name of the folder.
I would also love to see support for group libraries.
Notero is such a great plugin! And I'm seeing how it could really help my workflow especially in group research projects, with coauthors. Assigning readings to group members, displaying the reading status in a kanban board, adding notes, etc., is very useful. However, for this to work for group projects, the Notero sync preferences would have to allow for syncing not only individual collections in My Library, but also collections in Group Libraries.
My request is simply to add Group Libraries to the choice set of Zotero collections that can be synced through Notero. (If at some point it becomes possible to have multiple Zotero-Notion connections, with multiple Notion databases, that would be amazing, but I've seen that that is already a requested feature.)
The next-best alternative, currently possible, is to manage the Zotero bit through one group member's My Library, but this is not close to as useful as a group library.
Great work on Notero!
