Great post, Daniel! My blog http://www.toluwalemi.com/ is built with Django and hosted on Heroku. But it takes time to load and it's just a blog, I mean. It doesn't have to be that heavy. I'll consider switching to Lektor.

I'm curious, is it possible to add a "subscribers form" - where people can subscribe to receive updates - on Lektor?

Lektor has a plugin for RSS, so blogs updates are available registering on https://www.varrazzo.com/blog.xml using a news aggregator. Of course this means that no, I don't have their email and I am not aware about of how many do.

Lektor only generates static pages, so collecting and storing email addresses and sending emails on update is outside its domain. If you want to retain these features you have to have a bit of api or php on the server. I don't know if there's anyone offering it as an external service, I haven't looked into it.
