Notifications not working on Mac OSX #342

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Test SMS will not show notification
2. "Send Test Notification" does not show notification
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

I installed Remote Notifier 0.2.8. on my Galaxy S phone running Android 2.1 a
few days ago, and MacDroidNotifier on my OSX 10.6.6. system and it worked
perfectly right out of the box. Yesterday, notifications stopped working. I
checked all settings on Remote Notifier, MacDroid Notifier, and Growl; nothing
has changed and it should still be working, but the notifications are not
appearing on my Mac. Little Snitch and Advanced Task Killer have been
configured not to interfere with Remote Notifier and MacDroidNotifier.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

MacDroidNotifier 0.2.9
OSX 10.6.6
Android 2.1
Remote Notifier 0.2.8
Growl 1.2.1

Please provide the log output if possible (from the alogcat app on android,

I have this problem as well. I check checked the Android Notifier Desktop
settings, and Grown Notification Transport Protocol is checked (and so is
'system default'). Ping is set to enabled.

On my phone, I click 'send test notification'. I am using the Wifi broadcast
method, with encryption enabled.

On my Mac, in the Console app, I see:

2/6/12 2:57:43.728 PM [0x0-0x145145].com.notifier.android-notifier-desktop:
2012-02-06 14:57:43,727 INFO [NotificationManagerImpl] - Notification received:
notificationId=1258068708464214, type=Ping

But I don't get a Growl notification.

I also noticed that in the Growl Settings, I don't see Android Notifier Desktop
listed as an Application, so I am guessing the app didn't get registered with
Growl for some reason.

I've since upgraded to OSX 10.6.8 and Android 4.0.2, and I still can't get this
to work.

Hi Guys, I am experiencing this issue but resolved it. I had my system firewall
running.
Although a TCPDUMP showed the notification packet being received by my mac it
wasn't being passed to the application.

in /var/logs/appfirewall.log
May 8 11:27:59 essmark Firewall[58]: Deny MacDroidNotifier data in from
10.0.0.91:35731 uid = 0 proto=17

Try checking your firewall settings.

little snitch was the culprit for me. I just allowed all local network
connections and it seemed to do the trick. As well as 'allow incoming
connections" in the OSX security firewall itself
