Universal binary for macOS (M1) #1337

Please release an Apple Silicon native or universal binary for macOS Big Sur. This should give a big performance boost for M1 Macintosh owners.

Hi, can I sponsor this to some extent? My old laptop had an accident and I had to settle for a 8GB model where Rosetta would be really bad for system performance. I can't do it even though I know it's most likely just some hyped compiler flag.
