Caching of access control settings #112

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
A customer noted that access control settings are cached.
Apparently categories stay visible after being hidden until Magento cache
is cleared. We need to check this.

Log in as a user. Note which catalogs and products are visible.
Change settings, refresh the screen.
Repeat several times to confirm results.

Clear Magento cache. Note results.

Checked the issues on magedev. Access control is updated successfully as soon
as I
change it. No cache refreshing needed.

Tested the same issue on our official Magento store:
http://www.zetaprints.com/magento/

The customer is right. Access control is probably cached. I set the email
signatures
category to NONE access group but I still see it. Both as an anonymous user or
logged in.
Cleared the cache several times, no change. I still see the category and have
access
to the page.

Well, there is not much we can do, I guess.
We probably need to reflect it in the documentation.
I'll try to get some explanations for you.

Hello,

I tried to uninstall extension with magento connect, but category manager and
front
site is broken now. How to uninstall it cleanly ?

Kr,
Louis.

Need to add this to Wiki:
Go to Admin menu/System/Cache management.

In the top tab select Refresh from the dropdown, click Save cache settings
button.
