I came here with the same issue, also - right clicking does not hide "always hidden", I've tried many times to get this to work as described and there seems no way to hide "always hidden" (on Ventura through to current Sonoma 14.4)
Can confirm this and related bugs. The "Always Hidden Section" does not hide after all. After I have ticked "Enable always hidden section" in General preferences, a translucent divider shows up, to whose left I am supposed to hide the "always hidden" icons, but after I right-click the ⟨
icon to hide the dividers, and left-click ⟨
two more times to see the effect, all the icons show up, even those that are supposed to be always hidden. In fact, there are two invisible icons where the dividers used to be (looks like empty spaces but you can ⌘-click and drag them around). These two invisible icons are actually the dividers |
but they have just turned invisible. Now, if you right-click ⟨
again to make them visible, only the solid divider regains visibility whereas the translucent one remains invisible. The placement of the invisible divider which once was translucent makes no difference to the visibility of the icons to the left of it.
I'm also having this issue, please don't make me look at the Creative Cloud icon any more! Please! ;)
Same here. I have the always hidden feature enabled in the settings. If I click on the chevron, it always shows both "always hidden" and "hidden" sections (or entirely hides them if I click again or after the timeout). I have not seen a way where I would only see the "hidden" items but not the "always hidden" ones.
Are there other ways to trigger showing the hidden items besides clicking the chevron?
Because there must be a way to separate between editing mode (where I drag stuff into "always hidden" or out of it) vs. normal view hidden items mode. Ofc if clicking the chevron is the only way, and it does the editing mode, then this would explain the behavior but also make it useless.
Also I noticed that the greyed out | delimiter (separating always hidden and hidden) entirely disappears after the second time (or so) of clicking the chevron.
Secondary (right) click on the Hidden chevron in the menu bar hides and unhides the always hidden items.
Secondary (right) click on the Hidden chevron in the menu bar hides and unhides the always hidden items.
This solves the problem. So I think the real problem is poor documentation of how the "always hidden" feature works.
It's also worth noting that when I first turned on the "always hidden" checkbox, I didn't have the second grayed-out divider. But I restarted the app and then it showed up.
Secondary (right) click on the Hidden chevron in the menu bar hides and unhides the always hidden items.
I restarted the app after opening this function, then always hidden icons can work normally.
Secondary (right) click on the Hidden chevron in the menu bar hides and unhides the always hidden items.
A secondary right click on the chevron just removed the "|" icon for me on the Always Hidden Icons and nothing more. Am I the only one experiencing this? Can I provide logs somehow?
I meet the same bug. Quitting the app and start it does work again
Fail to hide always hidden items
I'm using M3 MacBook Air with Sonoma 14.4 and HiddenBar of version 1.9(13), and I've enabled always hidden items, but every time I try to expand the collapsed list, the always hidden items are showing up, with the HiddenBar app jumping in as an active app as well. It's kind of weird.
Also, I cannot click into the app window when it becomes active, unless I quit and re-enter the app.
Here are screenshots before and after the expansion, please notice the task bar and the dock.
