The requirements.txt
file only provides a working environment for python<=3.8,>=3.11 (there's a note about this in the requirements file). Unfortunately there aren't any strict environments that work with 3.8->3.12 due to NumPy. I went for providing a strict environment here, but we could loosen the requirements; it's a question about best practices (see a note here or here).
The installation requires cgen
and cython
to be installed before running make install
. That should at least be added to the installation instructions, which I noticed is missing.
For Python 3.12 (3.12.1 on my system, Ubuntu 24.04 LTS) building from source fails
For Python 3.11, you can build as follows (as described in README):
but in Python 3.12
if you just try the make you'd get
ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'cgen'
