Proposed solution: petition the Unicode Consortium to add a dark-backgrounded Christmas tree glyph.

Actually, this seems to be inconsistent:

I'm confused. Maybe an iTerm2 bug, or something weird with font handling.

In Terminal.app, the background is black at all opacity levels < 100% and black at 100%.
