Vim paste results in loss of synchronization

When I:

• Use visual mode to select a region of text that includes a newline
• Yank or delete that region
• Paste using "p" (but not "P"!)

ShareLaTeX dies of desynchronization and tries to reconnect. It often loses the clipboard contents along the way, which is not fantastic.
