Better lane division for cyclists; calm traffic through perception of a narrower driving lane

• Better separate cyclists, pedestrians, and motor vehicles by suitable markings (e.g. pedestrian or cycle lanes where space is available).
• Cause motor vehicles to slow down by giving the perception of a narrowing in the driving lanes.

Caltrans: This is called Traffic Calming Striping, and Traffic Safety will only apply as the last resort, as it would give motorist a sense of false deception to slow their vehicle. The issue of this devise is the effect beyond the striping, where the motorist would pick up the speed right afterward from our observation.
