Annnd October is over! I don’t know about you, but it felt like the busiest month of the year for me. I went to:
3 conferences — one in Arizona, one in California, and one in Nevada
1 wedding — my co-worker had his wedding here in Phoenix
1 meditation workshop — a friend asked me to lead at her small summit
1 day trip — my fiancé and I had engagement photos taken in Sedona
All of that made for a jam-packed month. I met a lot of people. I celebrated with new and old friends. And I learned a ton. But I’m glad to be settling down into a calmer month finally 😊
Now, let’s do some reflecting!
Achievements
Here, I’ll share the goal followed by the related achievement of the month after the arrow.
Financial:
Save $8,321.74 by Dec. 31st, 2018 -> saved $_7,935.33 _so far 😱
I can’t believe it but I am less than$400 away from hitting my goal! As I mentioned previously, I wanted to hit this goal before 2019 but by the looks of it, I should hit it next month 😃
Professional:
Grow Twitter Following to 2,000 -> now at 2,165! ✅ 🎉
I did it! 😄
I can’t believe it but I hit my goal 2 months before the original date. I was hoping to hit 2,000 before 2019 but I ended up hitting it this month thanks to the new 262 followers this month. This is really exciting because it means I can reach more people with the content I share (videos on YouTube/egghead).
In the beginning of the month, I gave a talk at Desert Code Camp on Gatsby.js. My talk lasted one hour and about 20 people came.
I explained what Gatsby was and then we did a workshop together where we built a Gatsby site using the starter default and deployed it using Netlify. I really enjoyed it and I hope to have more opportunities to give talks in 2019.
Inducted into Twilio Doer Hall of Fame + Twilio Champions Program
This one wasn’t planned (obviously) but during my time at SIGNAL (Twilio’s conference), Jeff Lawson, the CEO of Twilio, inducted me into Twilio’s Doers Hall of Fame. I felt honored to be recognized in Twilio’s community. It was a wonderful surprise 🙏🏼
In addition to that, Twilio announced a new program called Twilio Champions which are “passionate members of the Twilio developer community.” I’m excited to be a part of this program’s first cohort 😋
Write and Publish 6 Articles ->Twilio Blog Post in the process 🙌🏼
I don’t have any new articles to share but I did write a new blog post for Twilio’s Blog. Unfortunately I don’t have a date on when it will be reviewed and published but it is in the works so keep an 👀 out.
Intellectual:
Learning Roadmap ->finished MIT 6.00.1x Course🙌🏼
Another goal I was afraid I wouldn’t finish this month but I did it. I finished the course I was working on called “Intro to Computer Science with Python: MIT 6.001x” on edX.
I hadn’t used Python before the course so it was exciting learning a new programming language. The course taught me a lot about computer science fundamentals so now I feel more confident in my skillset 😸
Physical:
Squatted 225lbs x 6 reps 💪🏼
By the end of the year, I’d like to squat 250lbs x 1 set x 3–5 reps. Before this month, the most I had squatted more than 1 rep was 215. So I’m making good progress! I still have 25lbs to go but I hope I can make it happen within these next two months.
That’s all folks. Thanks for reading. See you in November! 👋🏼
