That sounds like a rhetorical question.
Well, I know I would want to know when someone reads a post, but some people don't ... and more importantly, is it a feature that other people want enough to muck in and build it?
Perhaps commenting is better thought of as a separate service altogether, not part of the publishing platform.
Other GitHub Pages Publishing tools avoid comments because of the static nature of GHP. But having content that people cannot interact with is kinda pointless IMO because it fails to capture the sentiment of the people reading the post. So we either need a way of enhancing GHP with Comments & Analytics (e.g. Disqus and GA) or we build it into the system at the core ... one is easier, the other adds substantially more value if executed well.
