Should you design your own [book] cover: https://medium.com/@samlaing/self-publishing-43d89e6ea260 ?

Given that there's an English saying:

"Don't judge a book by its cover_..." ~ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Don%27t_judge_a_book_by_its_cover

And the fact that people really do judge books by their covers: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/05/30/book-cover-design-indies_n_3354504.html

I'm going to go ahead and publish a contest on 99designs: http://99designs.co.uk/book-cover-design

As repeat customers we can get a free 'Power Pack Upgrade' (basically our listing in bold and highlighted. We just need to launch it through dwyl and you need to let me know so I can have a chat with them and organise it

nelsonic commented 9 years ago

That's the plan... @iteles are you volunteering to help write up the contest...? :+1:

Created a specific issue for the 99Designs Cover Contest: https://github.com/nelsonic/practical-full-stack-testing/issues/25

Always! When do you want the cover to be ready for?

nelsonic commented 9 years ago

Yesterday!

:stuck_out_tongue: Let's talk about it over soup and I'll make it my task for tomorrow morning :kissing_heart:

Its so hard to prioritise things...! :persevere: We need to get back on https://github.com/dwyl/time _ASAP_ so we can prep for https://github.com/dwyl/summer-2015 ... I've dusted this off so that I can prep for Tuesday's https://github.com/ladieswhocode/london meetup... I want to get back into the habit of regular writing... and there's no better place to focus my attention than on this book!

iteles commented 9 years ago

I reckon it makes sense for you to concentrate on this solidly for the next 3 days as it will allow you to make good progress on it as well as being prepped for Tuesday's meetup. So for the next 3 days we keep the Summer stuff to conversations and planning that I can keep going with and then dive back into the code after Tuesday :+1:

nelsonic commented 9 years ago

Right... but we also need to Pitch the Summer to the FAC5 on Monday! :open_mouth: So people can start planning if they want to join us in July or August... so that has to be a priority too...

I've literally just seen issue #6. Wednesday might have been a better pick.
