In lieu of having the product in front of me to take precise measurements, I'm deriving them ... ๐Ÿ™„ image

While we have a couple of single beds int he house that use these slats I don't want to raid them for parts as they are still used by guests.

So I'm thinking of heading to IKEA soon to buy at least one set of them for testing. Probably two. ๐Ÿ’ญ

@iteles if you go to IKEA tomorrow and have the time, please bring back two of these. ๐Ÿ™

These are in the back of the car. I wasn't sure where you wanted them in the workshop and didn't want them to be in the way.

Thanks.

this is the issue for the LURร–Y slats, please share comments like this here in the future for discoverability. ๐Ÿ’ฌ ๐Ÿ™

My reading of the negative reviews is that it's a combination of "user error" (they bought the wrong product that didn't meet their needs) and an inadequate bed frames ...

Let me be clear: I agree that bed slats in general aren't the perfect solution. But within the category, I find the LURร–Y slats to be perfectly adequate. I've slept on beds in Hostels that were on flat planks (made of OSB!) and they were horrible! Slats are muuuuuuch better (more comfortable and less noise!)

My response to the criticism of slats is:

  1. We will use strips of sound insulation (recycled fabric) contact-glued the ends of each slat which will be in contact with the bed frame with built-in tolerance for flexion.
  2. In the extremely unlikely event that a slat breaks we will easily replace it the same day; that is the whole point of standardising our Bunk Bed on an off-the-shelf product from IKEA.

The thing you need to understand about online reviews is this: only a tiny (1%) minority of IKEA customers bother to leave a review. Often there is a bias toward negativity ... ๐Ÿ‘Ž Tens of thousands of these slats will have been sold by IKEA in the last 20 years they've been in PT ... And only 148 reviews;

that's considerably less than 1% of customers were the rest of them all happy? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ Or were they too lazy to leave a negative review? ๐Ÿ’ญ

The top review complaining that the slats don't work for a Queen Size bed is someone basically complaining that they don't know how to read the measurements of the product. ๐Ÿ™ƒ

Again, I'm going to easily work around the perceived "flaws" in the product. And as always I'm very happy for anyone to propose an alternative. ๐Ÿ™
