General tidy up in preparation for additional content from issues #42

Before we're able to incorporate content from our issue backlog (there's plenty!), this repo needed a quick tidy up.

This PR:

Corrects typos
Changes some formatting and location of content to improve flow
Adds links to a couple of examples

It is a foundation layer for further changes.
