Re-Useable Glass Water Bottle "Bumper" (Personalisation Project) #53

What do you get when you take one of these: voss-water-bottle

and add a bit of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thermosetting_polymer ...?

I've been thinking about this idea ๐Ÿ’ก for ages... And I think it could be a "winner".

Note: I obviously don't think I "invented" this idea... https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=voss+bottle+cover&tbm=isch just that I haven't seen anyone make a business of it... Which I think is a massive oversight...! The raw materials are $2.80 for the Bottle and $2 for the case. We can sell the package for $15 and still make a decent margin. If people live in a place where Voss bottles are sold or they already have one, then they can just buy the "case" for $12 which is comparable to the price of an iPhone case... the obvious key difference being that iPhone are a high-value item that people want to protect (duh!) whereas the bottle is cheap. But let's not underestimate how much people love to accessorize.com ...!!! If we send these to a selection of the top Instagram Gym-Peeps and they snap it in their "Sesh" it will go "Viral" fast...!

We would manufacture a silicone case for Voss Water Bottles in China using Emilie's "Contacts". Sell it online. Make a little "shopify" store with a "Gift Pack" including the Bottles: voss-gift-pack

Then, if that proves "successful" we make it customisable with a personal note and boom! image

The most interesting part is the story we would write from the experience of turning the idea into cash and then open-sourcing all the plans so other people can make them and we systematically give the world a re-useable glass water bottle.

Market Research:

BKR $40 Glass Water bottle: http://www.mybkr.com/shop/#/productdetail/345/SPIKED_CASH_500ML bkr-glass-bottle-40

People want this! image

I've been using the IKEA Vardagen for the past 2 months with "Great Success"! see: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/50291921/ image

Bought Two of them. The reason is: I don't drink "plain" water. I drink either:

Highly recommend that people use these bottles as they have a wider "neck" than the VOSS ones which makes cleaning with a "bottle brush" much easier, i.e. more hygienic.

Still have not solved the problem/challenge of differentiating my bottle(s) if they happen to be in a fridge with several others ...

Leaving this issue open but re-naming it to reflect the revised need/requirement.

Note: the obvious downside of the IKEA Vardagen bottle ("Carafe") is that the lid is not "secure". The lid is "Silicone rubber": image

And if I were to cary the carafe in a bag it would most likely "pop off" and spill the contents...

Probably going to order a couple of packs of Voss Glass bottles for personalising and giving to visitors: https://www.aqua-amore.com/categories/all-water-brands/?orderby=price-desc&filter_packaging=glass image

Slightly Cheaper on Ocado: https://www.ocado.com/webshop/product/Voss-Artesian-Still-Water-Glass-Bottle/80001011 image

But the advantage "Aqua Amore" is that they will come in a "case" (box) that we can transport to PT.

Is there an equivalent in Portugal that we can buy there?

nelsonic commented 6 years ago

@iteles I've never seen Voss Water sold in PT. have you...? ๐Ÿค” Celeiro (_Equivalent of Holland & Barrett "health food store") appears to sell it: https://www.celeiro.pt/marcas/voss but it's all "esgotado" ("out of stock") on their website: image which is basically the same as them not selling it ... also โ‚ฌ5.40 for a 800ml bottle of water is kinda silly. ๐Ÿ’ธ ๐Ÿ™„ (except that it's still a bargain if we factor the price of a re-useable glass water bottle...)

iteles commented 6 years ago

What I meant was is there any other brand that we could buy in PT?

I ran a super quick search and found some relatively ugly Luso ones, but worth seeing if there's anything next time we're there.

I did, however, find this: http://www.dagua.pt/
